Prof. (Dr.) Nitin M. Gangane born on 11th June 1961 is a renowned Pathologist.
He has done MBBS (1983), M.D Pathology (1987) from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of
Medical Sciences, Sevagram under Nagpur University, Nagpur and later completed
DNB in Pathology and also Postgraduate diploma in hospital and health
management. He is also PhD in Medical Sciences with orientation to epidemiology
and public health from University of Umea, Sweden. He is the Fellow of International
Union Against Cancer (UICC). He began his illustrious career as Research officer and
Lecturer in Department of Pathology at MGIMS, Sevagram in November 1985. Since
then he has been involved with the medical college in various capacities for the last
37 years. He has served as Professor & HOD, Dean, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of
Medical Sciences, Sevagram and Pro Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra University of
Health Sciences, Nashik. He has taken over the charge as Vice-Chancellor, KLE
Academy of Higher Education and Research Deemed-to-be-University, Belagavi on
16th January 2023.

Prof. Gangane is the Life Member for various professional bodies viz.
Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists, Association of UICC Fellows.
He is associated with several Universities, regulatory bodies, associations,
Government agencies in various capacities as chairman, expert member. He was
member of governing body of Indian Council of Medical Research. He is also member of
management and academic council of Maharashtra University of health sciences. He has
earlier worked on Senate of MUHS, Nashik. He was president of Maharashtra chapter of
Indian association of Pathologist and Microbiologist. He was the Principal Investigator in
various research projects and co-investigator in several projects funded by international
bodies like IARC, WHO, UICC, NIH of USA, University of Umea and National funding
agencies like ICMR, UGC, and DST.

Prof. Gangane has published more than 180 research papers, presented
scientific papers, authored and co-authored books/chapters. He has under taken
several clinical projects, received research grants and guided more than 25
postgraduate students and 06 Ph. D scholars. Prof. Gangane has rendered yeomen
services to the profession by conducting CME programs, Conferences, Seminars,
Workshops, Teacher Training Courses sponsored by MCI, WHO and other funding
agencies. In the capacity of Dean Dr. Gangane was involved in establishing the
departments like Genetics & Genomics and Research Wing at the prestigious
Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sevagram, Maharashtra.

He is recipient of prestigious fellowships, fellow of National Academy of
Medical Sciences, Fellow of International for research on cancer and Fellow of Indian
College of Pathologists under Fellowship programme he has worked at International
Agency for research on cancer (WHO), Lyas, France and National Institute of Health
and National Cancer Institute of USA, Bethesda.
